Since March 2009 the Typhlological Museum has been carrying out the educational competition game [EN]FRAME. In working on the theme “Are our thoughts enframed”, our aim was to incite students to having a positive attitude towards people with disabilities and to bring awareness to how important it is for all of us to adapt to those persons who may be different in one segment than the rest. We also wished to explore what and who can(not) do something and are these people deprived of everyday social contact because of our (en)framed and stereotyped thoughts. The target audiences for this program were pupils from the higher grades in elementary schools but we also intermingled with those of the lower grades. The program began with presentations in elementary schools where we introduced the pupils to the work of the Museum. We then invited them to visit the Museum and to participate in our workshops where they had to complete certain tasks without their sense of sight (either with a blindfold over their eyes or in the pitch blackness of the Dark Room). In order to record the moment where it was checked to see if the task was correctly completed, we photographed the pupils on their exit from the Dark Room. Participants of the workshops and presentations additionally worked on the project in their classes, writing short essays, and we put together an exhibition of these in the end.
