“Accessibility for All” – Education session

On 15 May 2025 the Typhlological Museum hosted an education session “Accessibility for All”. The purpose was to introduce the professionals in the field of culture to theoretical as well as practical competences required for interacting with visitors with disabilities.

The education included legal framework and best practices, topics related to autism spectrum disorder and assistive technologies in museums, as well as fundamental understanding and tools for creating verbal and tactile adaptations for blind and visually impaired visitors. Finally, participants learned how to communicate with deaf, deafblind, and blind visitors. Each lecturer provided both visitors and active participants with valuable information, guidelines, knowledge, and experiences. The participants acquired competencies for quality work with different categories of visitors with disabilities.

The spring education session gathered the following lecturers: Darijo Jurišić, Ombudsman for Persons with Disabilities; Kosjenka Brajdić and Eva Pavić, the Association ASK (Association for autism and other types of neurodiversity, self-representation, and cultural diversity); expert professionals Željka Sušić, Nevenka Ćosić, and Iva Sočković, the Typhlological Museum; and Doris Marie Greppin, Day Nursery Travno.
