Free workshop: Affordable tourism for the blind

The tourist map of Šibenik attracts new groups of visitors

Can Šibenik become a more accessible city, and the Šibenik Cathedral of St. James one of four European churches under UNESCO protection adapted with new technology for the visually impaired? Do you want to learn how to approach a blind person or how to adapt the contents of your hotel, apartment, restaurant or similar tourist service for the visually impaired?

In the Juraj Šižgorić City Library in Šibenik, on 19 December 2019, from 10:00 to 14:00 the Typhlological Museum in Zagreb will hold a free workshop on Affordable tourism for the blind, which will present the UNESCO4ALL project to local and regional public and private entities in charge of tourism, culture and creativity, but also to all interested participants.

The workshop will include a presentation of the EU UNESCO4ALL TOUR project, a short lecture on the Šibenik Cathedral of St. James, presentation of the label of excellence and a practical workshop on affordable tourism, where interested participants can learn how to adapt their services to the visually impaired.

If you want to join us at the City Library and learn new skills that can give your private business a new dimension, this is a unique opportunity for you. The most successful and most creative stakeholders in the tourism of Šibenik will be among the laureates of the prestigious label of excellence, which will provide them with a path to a new group of tourists. Cultural heritage of the city of Šibenik and its cultural monument under the protection of UNESCO, the Cathedral of St. James, is recognized in the world as unique and invaluable. It was this feature of the cathedral that was crucial to be included among the selected European cultural monuments that will be promoted through the EU UNESCO4ALL TOUR project.
