Otvaranja
PETAR BARIŠIĆ

16.09.2010 - 11.10.2010

Lokacija: Typhlological Museum

…The exhibition in the Typhlological Museum is a selection of Barišić’s works created in the course of the past three decades.

…The Barišić’s earliest sculptures, as well as the complex space installations he has been making during the last decade, expressly require from the audience a touch - physical encounter.

…Last years, the Barišić’s mobile objects insist on the sound dimension. To rotating disks formed in a highly polished aluminium alloy, the artist attaches mobile elements of different forms that, expelled from stabile balance due to rotation produce sounds like percussion instruments. The audience in the exhibition area becomes literally touched by the cacophony of these arrhythmic sounds.

…The exhibition Openings shows only one part of the academic sculptor Petar Barišić's works. It is dedicated to everyone, and its experience is approachable even to disabled persons. In other words, priceless tactile experience of art, realized through motion and combined with audio and visual, will offer us richness of the work of art’s perception, and indirectly even of the milieu surrounding us.

…Let this exhibition be one of multimodal plays and let us go back with it to our very beginnings. Make an illicit act, touch the sculpture and the world around us, let us abandon and immerse in arrhythmic sounds.

…This exhibition is not an Opening only in the art-historical sense where one of connotations may be the opening of the sculpture to the space; it is rather the opening to the touch, the opening to a new, different experience. The opening to the persons experiencing the world around them, since they are compelled to do it, dominantly through other senses.
